Pour pouvoir participer à la compétition, la FSVL exige d’être titulaire d’une licence sportive valide et payante. Le plus simple, c’est de faire une demande préalable auprès de la FSVL: http://www.shv-fsvl.ch/fileadmin/redakteure/PDFs/Sport/antrform_sportlizenz.pdf. Si nécessaire, une licence sportive peut être obtenue avant la compétition lors de l’inscription sur place.
Le règlement de la compétition est très différent de celui de l’édition 2011. La différence majeure, c’est la suppression du système de pénalité. La nouveauté, c’est que l’accent est mis sur un parcours sans faute. Le succès repose ainsi sur la tactique et une vitesse bien dosée. Les pilotes qui volent avec une aile plus grande et une charge alaire moins importante ont donc aussi une chance de mieux se classer. Qui réussira le mieux le grand écart entre une descente précise et une bonne vitesse?

Only Revelstoke and Panorama allow paragliding but that requires membership in the national association. Speed riding isn't allowed.....officially.

I am a new owner of a Gin Nano (11m). I am a paragliding club pilot in the UK and have done a 3 day speed riding course in La Clusaz (but not specific speed riding qualification).

I am this weekend off to British Columbia for a two week si trip (taking the Nano) and would like to know if anyone has been able to find UK based insurance for speed riding?

Also any recommendations on areas to speedriding in/around kicking horse, revelstoke, red mountain, fernie (we are doing a road trip in an RV).

In Chamonix there's a few places where you can go speedflying (I know you're asking about speedriding but I hope my comment on speedflying would be helpful too). I did my first flights from Brevent this winter by myself, the landing field is just next to the car park down by the Planpraz lift station and is pretty big. Another option is Grand Montets with a landing by the road (details can be found here: http://www.chamonix.com/pdf/vol_libre_en.pdf). If the wind up at 3800m (Aiguille du Midi) allows and you feel brave you could try to fly off the north face into the valley, although I highly recommend a guide or a fellow pilot who knows the area for this, there's not much room for error up there. See speedriding/flying videos with the names that I've mentioned online to get an idea what it's like.
But before you even seriously consider flying in France make sure you have an appropriate 3rd party insurance (the only legal requirement). And read the Vol Libre booklet, I can't stress enough how helpful it is.

I am going to out in the Alps in both Morzine and Chamonix from the 28th to the 9th of Feb. I have my own equipment, but only about 20 flights under my belt in the western US and none in France.

I am looking for anyone that might be on the area to go out with, who has more experience than I do.

300 Euro a day is pretty steep for a guide, so I am looking for another option.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
