Hey yeah :-), I have the same question. I just bought a Spiruline 18 and don't want to fly it with my old gin speedflyer-harness. For paragliding I use a Skywalk Cult XC - everybody says that I should get a harness without a seatplate, but those only come with stupid airbags and airbags su** big time in situations when you need them (=> got me a broken vertebra lumbalis) So what can I do - I'm thinking about buying an acro-harness - are there any acro-harnesses where you can remove the seatplate and reduce weightshift to a minimum? Any ideas here? Cause I like my spine too much to fly an airbag...
Thanks a lot
regards

We just got one because I was flying a friend's in France this last month and it's wicked! I love it for speedflying, speedriding, pg, and with the reserve container add-on it is great for a tandem pilot. If anyone needs one, contact us... We will hook you up!

Yes its great.

Max Jeanpiere from Kortel specially designed it for speedflying.riding

You can also add a resevepocked on the back .

I also use it for soaring last time I flew for 8 hours and it was still comfortable

Possible but its NOT recommended flying any Speedglider with a seat plate PG harness due to the extra input induced when weightshifting.
The glider may over react when flown especially on the smaller sizes.

Can you remove the Seat Plate from your harness - may work better, but not as well as the speedriding harness ?
also you would need to check carabiner spacings etc...

If you do test fly your Nano with the Woody valley X - let us know how you get on. <img src="http://forum.speed-flying.com/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":-)" class="bb_smilies" />

I bought a yeti airbag, http://www.gingliders.com/paragliding/yeti-airbag.php and it seems to fit quite well.

It has velcro and buckles that connects to the top of the harness and to the part of the harness that becomes the legstraps. I will have to add two more buckles to the harness and two small straps, but otherwise it looks like it fits quite well (even without those modifications it will fit rather well). The only drawback is that the harness is now full when it is used as a rucksack when the canopy is semi compactly packed.

I'll take some pictures of it when I've added the plastic buckles and straps.

I don't think the Speedrider airbag would work. It has attachment points specific to the Speedrider harness, like a zip at the base of the rucksack and some velcro at the front of the the leg loops.

I have both the Niviuk Skate and the Gin Speedrider harnesses and I can't imagine it working. I wouldn't invest in a Speedrider airbag if I were you unless you were up for some serious modifying - or lots of supergluing <img src="http://forum.speed-flying.com/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":)" class="bb_smilies" />

Hi there,
I want to sell my Bobcat Harness with approx. 20 flights.
It is in perfect shape, no crashes and no scratches.
I use to fly my ´Cat and my other wings with the Speedrider Harness. Also have flown normal paragliders with it because it posesses a rescue bridle(going to both shoulder straps)for a front mount reserve on the right side. Very comfortable and safe through the bumper back protection. Weights 1,6 kg only. Multi-purpose-harness for Hike and Fly etc.
Have a look to:
http://www.speed-flying.com/gin-bobcatharness
or go to:
http://www.gingliders.com/speedflying/harness-bobcat.php

Price should be 240.- EUR + shipping.
Ask for shipping cost from Germany to your country and more pictures.

The speed-flying harnesses the brands sell work pretty well with the snowboard as they allow you to twist your body and legs easily. If you would twist the attachment points it would be more difficult to control the wing in the air.

good luck!!

Does anyone know if any harness like that is in progress?

kitesurfa on "SAFETY NOTICE Harness buckles"

A few harnesses equipped with light quick release buckles have experienced involuntary releases of the locking mechanism in flight and primarily with the front ( red ) Safe-T buckle.

Priority : High
Publication date : August 6th 2008

Reason : The two small protruding release mechanism on the female side of the buckle, do not come back in place to secure a fully locked position.

Q : Which harness model can be affected ?

Here are the harnesses equipped by the factory with these quick release buckles:
2008 models :
ALTIX - VAMP - HYBRID - ALTIRANDO XP - VAMPAIR - X-ALPS - EVASION - XC - KINDER Airbag
2007 models :
in addition to the previously mentioned harnesses : ALTIPLUME Airbag - ESCAPE Airbag -
X-Ride - X-Ride Airbag.

Note: if your harness was upgraded with the light quick release buckles, make certain to verify the stamping on the buckles and find out if they are part of the above potentially problematic series. This problem is not relevant to the harness itself but rather to the quick release light as well as the " Safe-T " buckle.

The possibly malfunctioning buckles are stamped with the following markings : A08 or B08 which corresponds to their manufacturing date ( date also indicated on the harness's label ), valid between January 2008 and July 2008. The defect is located on the female part of the buckle.

Q : What should I do if my harness is part of the list ?

Make certain the locking mechanism works smoothly and properly. To do so, proceed with the following opening and closing sequences :

1 - From a Closed / Locked buckle : symmetrically depress the two ( 2 ) release protruding levers located on either side of the female buckle, pull the male buckle out then, push / lock it back into place. The two ( 2 ) protruding levers on the female buckle section, MUST extend out FULLY again ( see graphics ). Repeat the whole sequence three ( 3 ) times.
2 - From an Open / Unlocked buckle : symmetrically depress the two ( 2 ) release protruding levers located on either side of the female buckle, and push / lock the male section into place. The two ( 2 ) protruding levers on the female buckle section, MUST extend out FULLY again ( see graphics ). Repeat the whole sequence three ( 3 ) times.

Note : Regarding the red Safe-T buckle, the test sequence MUST be repeated for both female sections on either side of the central male insert or twice per Safe-T buckle.

If, in any case, one ( 1 ) or two ( 2 ) of the protruding small levers do not come back to their initial locked position, we will ask you to contact us in order to choose the best shipping solution to send your harness back to our facility via your usual dealer or to us. Sup'Air will cover all shipping costs ( both ways ) including the necessary repairs.

Note : SUP'AIR takes pride in its manufacturing process, top quality gear and quality control. Please accept our apologies in advance for any possible inconvenience you may encounter with your harness. We will work to the best of our abilities to correct the problem and make certain you will resume flying as soon as possible with full confidence.

IMPORTANT : in any case and regardless of the quick release buckles used, you MUST and prior takeoff, run through a systematic pre-flight check list to insure for all to be properly locked and secured in place. Pay especially attention to the locking sequence and mechanism in a snowy or sandy environment. Always be VERY careful and aware of your gear's functionality.

In the event of discovering a problem, please contact Sup'Air if it is a Sup'Air harness or Gin if a Gin harness for further details.
