I have logged over 80 skydives. I am a pilot with an instrument rating, multiple engine add on, with my complex and high performance endorsements. So flying is exactly new to me but want to approach learning to speed fly in the right way. I think I would like to soar more than just flying fast and landing. I have been looking at an ozone xt. Anyway.... Just need good, practical advice on the best way to introduce myself to the sport. I really want a paragliding cert but seems to be a lot more expensive to really start flying. Would love to hear all the advice I can!

Possibly, but depending on which country you are flying in a Paragliding license is/maybe required.

I own an xt and love it. It is an excellent first wing, super stable, easy launch and land, plenty brake and just a great wing. However, it glides like a brick, in other words not a great choice for soaring. I now have an aska17 which is a totally different design and has a gr of 1:7.
I use my xt for steep speed flying and my aska for shallow slopes (around home here), and for very light winds and soaring.
Hugely happy with both.

I'm an experienced paragliding pilot (10years). I tried a small wing for the first time last week in Oludeniz Turkey and had 2 flights. The wing was an XT16. My weight naked 73. The glider was going down at 4.5 m/s a bit too much and I think not so safe in case you need some more glide. Wich glider is best and safer for a guy like me? Maybe the ASKA17 as I read above, but is there any other make with better gliding characteristics? How to compare?

PS: I forgot to say that I'm 57 and would like to do my best to reach old age flyng....

Don't think a spitfire is forgiving enough to start out on, a gin nano or ozone bullet would be good for getting into speedflying, but for soaring (i'm sure you'l enjoy the down hill stuff too! but this is dependant on whats around you, and a 'soarable' wing can go down better than a 'down' wing can soar, perhaps a bobcat or something in that direction? ie a mini pg with ok glide charactesitcs. The size depends on your weight, if you're 80kg, 12-15msq would suit you.
