Hey, I used to fly a Bobcat 16.5m but ended up getting rid of it since it never had much glide at all with me on it (I am 250lbs.). I ended up moving on to a Little Cloud Atypik 19m which, as it turn out it a wing that is better for strong wind soaring than anything else.

I have flown it a couple of times and found that it is fast, has a good glide, but it needs at least a 10km/hr wind to inflate properly. I have had to abort a few launches in light winds and find that really frustrating.

I am now looking for a speed-wing that is better for zero wind launches. I am thinking about the Dudek Zakospeed 16m, has anybody flown this speed-wing and how do they like it??? What would you compare it too???

    Thanks!!

By their nature a speed wings needs a higher airspeed to fly correctly (versus paragliders which like littel to no wind) and if you can't run fast enough then a head wind is always preferrable unless you plan on cliff jumping which is borderline BASE jumping in my opinion. This is all assuming that you groundlaunch. If you ski then I will shut up now.

I understand that, but the Little Cloud Atypik has an aspect ratio of 6.2 and is much harder to launch in a no wind scenario then a typical speed wing... I have experimented with it and usually in no wind or light wind the center inflates but the wind tips do not, you have to run really really fast to get them to inflate and they don't always inflate symmetrically... hence why I am looking at a Dudek Zakospeed

You might want to try out an ITV Bip Bip 18. Should give you a good ride and launch well enough. Like the other poster said, faster wind really is needed for these, but I get my 16 flying with little effort in less-than-moderate wind.
