...We are trying to get a message out to the base jumping community and I am hoping that you may be able to help with this.
A number of base jumpers used Malham Cove 19/20th March weekend and a repeat of this in the next few months could result in the disturbance of the peregrine falcons that nest at the site. It is for this reason that a voluntary restriction on climbing activity is agreed with the BMC each year which runs from the beginning of March through to mid-July. We are trying to ensure that base jumpers are also aware of the situation. Peregrine Falcons are what are known as a Schedule 1 species and disturbance is a criminal offence.
Any help you can give on contacting people involved in the sport would be greatly appreciated!
