The President of the Italian Paragliding and Hang Gliding Association, Luca Basso, addressed an urgent appeal to all European air sports organizations.
Due to the current ideal weather, many mountain sports and aviation accidents in the Dolomites. Particularly in the areas of operation Val di Fassa / Canazei and Molveno / Brenta Dolomites, it is been repeated obstruction of rescue helicopters by paragliders. The situation is so precarious that a crisis meeting was convened with the provincial government of Trentino. Luca Basso tells in his letter that a possible consequence of a complete ban could be in the Dolomites, paragliding and hang gliding ("... close completely in Dolomites ").
Safety Notice: all pilots in case of accident, MUST move from the area (or land) immediately in order to let the helicopter fly in safety.
As the situation in the Dolomites is apparently so critical that the authorities want to take action, we appeal to all pilots to be particularly sensitive in this respect and to behave in an exemplary manner.

Massive Probleme bei Unfällen in den Dolomiten
Kategorie: Front, SicherheitDer Präsident des italienischen Gleitschirm- und Hängegleiterverbandes, Luca Basso, hat einen dringenden Appell an alle europäischen Flugsportverbände gerichtet.
Wegen des derzeit idealen Wetters ereignen sich viele Bergsport- und Flugunfälle in den Dolomiten. Besonders in den Fluggebieten Val di Fassa/Canazei und Molveno/Brentadolomiten ist es wiederholt zu Behinderungen von Rettungshelikoptern durch Gleitschirmflieger gekommen. Die Situation ist so brenzlig, dass ein Krisentreffen mit der Provinzregierung des Trentino einberufen wurde. Luca Basso teilt in seinem Schreiben mit, dass eine mögliche Konsequenz ein generelles Flugverbot in den Dolomiten sein könnte ("...close completely paragliding and hanggliding in Dolomites").
"I ask you, if possible, to prepare an immediate advise in all national federation internet site to notice all pilots that in case of accident, they must move from the area (or to land) immediately in order to let the helicopter fly in safety".
(Ich bitte Euch, wenn möglich, eine sofortige Aufklärung auf den Internetseiten der nationalen Verbände zu veröffentlichen, um alle Piloten darauf hinzuweisen, im Falle eines Unfalls sofort vom Unfallbereich wegzufliegen oder zu landen.)
Da die Situation in den Dolomiten anscheinend so kritisch ist, dass die Behörden aktiv werden wollen, appellieren wir an alle Piloten, diesbezüglich besonders sensibel zu sein und sich vorbildlich zu verhalten.
